RoadSchool-ND The Corps of Discovery!

10/9/2018
(Kate) Today we went to the Lewis & Clark Interpretive Center. Lily dressed up as different people from the Corps of Discovery, like Clark, and Sacagawea. My favorite part though, was the George Catlin paintings of the Indian Buffalo hunts.

Dress up is encouraged.

That cradleboard was heavy!

(Lily) I did the scavenger hunt with mommy, where I used a magnifying glass, telescope, compass, tape measure, and candle to find clues throughout the museum. Halfway through, a lady invited us to eat the civic club meeting leftovers: sloppy Joe's, beans, pickles, coleslaw, cheesecake, and pop. It was real good!

Learning about orienteering.

This was interesting...

Lunch!

Buffalo robes are heavy, but warm!

Clues!

Lewis & Clark also trapped a prairie dog to send back to President Jefferson.

(Taylor) I liked the George Catlin gallery. We also visited the replica of Fort Mandan, which was the winter camp of Lewis & Clark. The actual site was mostly washed away on their return trip, and is likely completely under the Missouri River now.

Meriwether Lewis had a Newfoundland named Seaman. He made the trek along with the Corps of Discovery! Read about Seaman HERE.
