Day 4 International Wolf Center

6/15/2018
So Friday I walked Joe for a little bit down to the lake and hooked his leash up to a tree. I skipped rocks and Joe walked in the water, then we went back to the trailer for breakfast of cereal, and then we packed some lunch of apples, crackers, and hummus for the International Wolf Center in Ely. We watched a video about wolves and ranchers... how the ranchers lost livestock to some wolves from Yellowstone, and they had to learn about the pack and train them to leave the cows alone. My favorite thing about the center was seeing the wolves REALLY close while they played and fought. I learned that when wolves tuck their tails really low, that means they're uncomfortable, and when their tails are high, they are confident. I also learned that they can run 38 mph for 20 minutes. After lunch in the parking lot and one last look at the wolves, Taylor, Kate, and I, went down a path that I found into the woods and met mom and dad on the other side of the center's driveway. We had to get some groceries, then came back to the trailer for grilled cheese and tomato soup, before walking down to our "private beach" for skipping rocks, then swimming at the big beach. The tiny gnats were horrible, so we didn't swim very long. Back at the camper we got ready for bed and watched three episodes of the classic 1966 TV show, "Get Smart". You should check it out sometime. Off to bed in my cozy upper bunk!
